Guidelines in Creating Bullion Fringe

The bullion fringe or more known as the bullion embroidery refers to thick cords that are twisted and hanged heavily. It usually covered with fine silver or gold threads. It is often used for trimming of uniforms and as epaulettes. Bullion fringe is known to some people as bullion stitch. The bullion knot is one of the most common kinds of bullion fringe that you can find.   • Threat the tapestry needle and secure the thread end with a knot. This will help the first stitch to be done in place.
  • Place the threaded needle on the top surface of the fabric. Insert the needle just a short distance on the other side where it was inserted then bring it back. This motion should not be completed. The needle should be lay inserted into the fabric wherein both the end and top of the needle is visible. The length created in the space will match the bullion knot length.
  • To form a set of coils, the working thread should be wrapped around the needle for at least five times.
  • The needle should be pushed through the coils that were made around the needle. To tighten the coils, it should be held firmly against the fabric using the thumb. This motion should not be completed as well so the needle can be brought out from the fabric.
  • As the needle lies on the fabric, it should be rotated back to the original insertion point. Whereas the tip should be inserted into the same spot.
  • Until the bullion knot lies flat on the fabric, pull the thread all the throughout.

Another kind of bullion fringe that you will love is the bullion stitch roses. You just need the right needle for this kind of bullion fringe. Bullion stitch roses can be used with varieties of thread. Thicker threads can be used as well if you want larger knots for your bullion stitch. The use of soft wool can be very inviting if you want the bullion stitch roses to have more charm and embroidery floss.

 

Bullion rose is one kind of bullion fringe that can be done using three-toning colored threads and begin with the darkest one. It should be worked on with two bullion knots that are side by side. The medium-toned thread is used for longer stitches that surround the two knots. The lightest-toned thread is also used similarly with medium-toned thread. It can be done with two strands for the final round.

 

The bullion stitch strawberries are done with one red stranded cotton and two bullion stitches from end to end. For the calyx part, green strands of thread can be used. For the seeds of the strawberries, it can be threaded with French knots of black or yellow threads.

 

The bullion stitch flower is a kind of bullion fringe that is not complicated as it sounds. It can be created with more crazy-quilt embroideries and white bullion knots. Lazy daisy stitches can be surrounded on it.
